Ultima Business Solutions has evolved into one of the UK's leading providers of secure, available and scalable IT infrastructure solutions to private and public sector organisations. Genesis have worked with and enjoyed and excellent relationship with Ultima for over 6 years, as one of our premier partner accounts we have supplied to date many of their top performing Account Directors as well as their most senior and well accredited technical consultants/architects across multiple technologies.  In this particular instance Ultima had been struggling for several months to fill two positions, whilst a little out of our usual remit they approached us and asked if we could help as “it was becoming extremely important and our other resource have all drawn a blank”

 

As a Citrix Platinum partner Ultima support many of the UK’s leading companies Citrix environment via their onsite managed services operation (NOC) this has seen continued growth leading to a requirement for a number of highly experienced and accredited 3rd/4th line support Citrix consultants based from their NOC in Reading.  As stated Ultima had found them particularly difficult to source via their usual routes, which was putting strain on the existing team and was very apparent that new quality individuals where required quickly.

Ultima needed individuals with 2 years’ experience working within a Citrix support environment, in particular persons accredited and with working knowledge of Citrix Netscaler who must also be  looking to continue to develop their career within a support environment. This presented a challenge to Genesis as 

Netscaler is a very new and highly desirable technology meaning the majority of individuals possessing such skills would already be working in external consultant or freelance position, whereas Ultima’s requirement was for permanent individuals only.

A different approach was required to source these individuals, we firstly discussed in detail exactly what was required, the exact remuneration available and more so what benefit to and why would any perspective candidate want to join take a new opportunity at Ultima, thereafter the real hard work of market mapping began.  We had to find other local companies that either had their own NOC supporting Citrix biased organisations, or alternatively much larger organisations (FTSE 100/Councils) that had their own IT support divisions again with a particularly large Citrix environment employing accredited support individuals that would fit their brief.

Ultima required the individuals quickly and within 48 hours Genesis had identified several businesses within a 10 mile radius of their HQ in Reading. We then took the time to source, identify and approach proactively those that we thought would fit the brief and would be the ideal fit, all without drawing too much attention to both our business but more so Ultima. Candidates were briefed and selected on ability and suitability, interviews arranged, candidates prepped and made fully aware of expectations and requirements and within 2 weeks of being given the assignment, we had got our first offer accept.
